In the inner city, if you can't touch it, you can't use it; if it doesn't help you survive — then it isn't real. Don't talk about "hope" unless you can demonstrate it.
That's why Here's Life partners with inner-city churches that are committed to ministering to the whole person — body, mind, and spirit.
Our Mission:
We serve and mobilize the church to live out Gods heart for the poor, so all can grow in Christ and spiritually multiply.
Our Values:
- We are called to the poor of the city.
- We strive to understand and value other cultures and adapt appropriately.
- We are committed to a Christ-centered, wholistic approach to ministry.
- We are committed to journey together in an environment of grace and truth.
- We work in partnership with others.
- We respond to the needs of the poor and seek innovative, transferable solutions.
- We empower others through leadership development to transform communities.
- We break down walls of social injustice, like racism, sexism and classism.
Our Vision:
Believing that followers of Christ are called to care for the needy, we envision:
Every Christian engaged in meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the poor, transforming communities where all people are experiencing hope and justice.
In light of this vision, a major thrust for HLIC is:
To see churches mobilize their people so that every Christian becomes a multiplying follower of Jesus Christ who is engaged in meeting the needs of the poor.
Our Foundation and Shield:
"...if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings. Isaiah 58:10-12 NIV
